What do trailers brakes have?

The trailer brakes

- The cables and their covers, the cam, the shoes and the springs are more sensitive to oxidation than the bearings, so any immersion in water, especially salty, can cause a rapid blocking of the system.
If when the season is over we keep our trailer in the garage without rinsing it or doing serious maintenance, it will cause that when we need it again, we find a complete block of the wheels or a total absence of braking. Some models of the trailer have a system of direct connection to a hose of fresh water to the brake drum so that it can be rinsed and allowed to dry, even allowing it to be sprayed with some type of anti-oxidant spray.
- The damper of the brake control, which joins the central bar with the head, must operate smoothly and without hitting, but with the corresponding hardness.
- The rod that connects the head with the brake drums has to make the proper route to each model of trailer. Too large a stroke will cause a premature destruction of the shock absorber.
The Trailer Sway Control also communicates with trailer brakes along with an electrical connection but it goes one step forward to the management of the car computer controls the trailer brake as well, acceleration and also works with the traction system. Vehicles that have this function have software that monitors the vehicle and trailer to avoid any loss of grip or lateral movements of the trailer.
Operation as such determines whether the trailer is tilted when bending, thereby adjusting the engine to slow down and braking the corresponding tires of the vehicle being towed in order to correct the movement of the trailer.
